A Long Time

it is a year
since I last wrote a poem

my mind on serious things
forgets that there is a world
out there
a world of life and love
a world where walks can be made
to places
just to see what’s there
and having seen
return as more of a person than I was before

a poem is like that
starting with a few words
and a plan
but not knowing what we will find
then words cascade out
like water from a undiscovered waterfall

something new is discovered
when you write a poem
