Dinosaur, not to be confused with the 1990s program Dinosaurs, is a new comedy series on BBC3 featuring an autistic lead character.

The lead character, Nina, is played by Ashley Storrey, an autistic actor who is also a co-writer. Because of this, autism is portrayed realistically, with just autistic people going through their normal lives. Autism is not the subject of the comedy; it’s about two sisters who share a flat and how they react to the changes in their relationship when one of them gets engaged to a man she has only known a few days.
The name Dinosaur is because Nina works in the museum as a paleontologist. The show goes beyond the stereotypes you would expect in shows involving autism.
I have only seen the first two episodes, on repeat on BBC1. I really recommend this program. All the episodes are available on BBC iPlayer.
Good news. There will be a second series, though there is no release date.
