Who is Jesus? part 15
After throwing us into a whirlwind of weird tales about the Word and mind-bending philosophies of life and light, with a hearty sprinkle of John the Baptist anecdotes (who apparently isn’t the star of the show, just like he said, literally) we finally reach the grand finale: Surprise! It was Jesus all along. Plot twist!

I got this for this post. It shows that John the Baptist never neglected his grooming products despite living in the wilderness.
17 For the law was given through Moses; grace and truth came through Jesus Christ.
John 1:17 ESVUK
True grace
It’s easy here to look at the big reveal, the plot twist that it was Jesus all along and miss what this opening song in the Gospel of John is saying about grace.
Grace literally means free. Grace is a beautiful gift of love. We simply receive grace without having to earn it. God, in His infinite grace, generously showers us with blessings even when we least expect them.
The grace of Jesus is better than the grace that came before. That is what the pairing of grace and truth means, Jesus Christ brings a better grace than the grace that was brought by Moses. This is the true grace.
It’s a timeless concept: it has been present since the dawn of creation. After Adam’s misstep, even though God was saddened, He generously extended grace to Adam, who had done nothing to earn it. Noah received an even greater grace than Adam, Abraham was blessed with a grace surpassing Noah’s, and Moses was embraced by a greater grace than Abraham. The ultimate grace, pure grace, the fullness of grace, is beautifully revealed through Jesus Christ. It costs us nothing, yet it was a profound investment from God. Jesus gave everything, even His life, to share this incredible gift. This uplifting narrative unfolds in John’s Gospel, where the question “Who is Jesus?” invites us to discover the magnificent story of grace, one page at a time.
We are truly blessed by the grace that God imparted to Adam, Noah, Abraham, and Moses. Yet, it is through Jesus that we experience an even deeper abundance of grace and truth, offering us comfort and hope in our journey.
