You see, that they are going to fail is good news. That we fail is good news. The reason is that no matter if we fail, no matter if we give up on God, no matter how big our failure is, God will never fail. God will never give up on us.
First a note about the giver of the gifts. That is the Father. The glory of the Father is the wrapping the present is wrapped in. When John says, "We have seen his glory," he means it. He's one of the actual witnesses to a true event. But what good is seeing a wrapped present if we only look at the wrapping?
God created humans in his image, so it is natural for us to carry the nature of God within us as humans. As Christians, we are blessed with the presence of the Holy Spirit within us. We also can demonstrate forgiveness and grace.
In the desert, God provided the Israelites with fresh water. It was not their doing. The song of the well, asking for God's water, is a song of praise for this provision.

Have you noticed the connection between the two Johns? John the Baptist's role was to prepare the people for the arrival of Jesus, while John the Evangelist, the author of this Gospel, is highlighting the identity of Jesus.
In Genesis God is not creating out of nothing. It begins with everything without form and empty, to which God brings order out of the chaos. For creation from nothing we need the New Testament and phrases like, "without him was not anything made that was made."
If you think creation was complete you have to allow for God to still be active in creation, there are a lot of hoops to go through to make that theory stick. If you say God is still actively creating then you have to admit that it has been more intense than it is now.
