Resolutions 2024

Happy New Year

Four years ago, I made a hopeful declaration that 2020 would be a year dedicated to worship. Little did I know that our world would face unprecedented challenges. Within just three months, churches were forced to close their doors worldwide, as a necessary measure to curb the spread of a new disease – Covid-19, the first pandemic in a century. Despite these unexpected circumstances, it’s important to remain optimistic and resilient in the face of adversity.

With corporate worship being put on hold, and then later on being all socially distanced and masked up, I learned a whole lot about worship. It really hammered home the point that worshiping online is just as legit as gathering in a physical building.

In the wacky world of 2020, my journey took a quirky turn as I delved into the mystical melodies of the Psalms of Ascent. These whimsical tunes, believed to have been sung during the awe-inspiring pilgrimage to the temple in Jerusalem, captured my attention. But that wasn’t all! I braved the poetic masterpieces of the Psalms of Asaph, the Sons of Korah, and the legendary David himself. Phew, talk about an adventurous five years!

Now, as I embark on a brand-new chapter, I am determined (insert dramatic music or thrash metal riffs) to conquer the remaining psalms in the beloved Book of Psalms. Will I succeed in this poetic quest? Only time will tell! So, buckle up folks, because this year promises to be a wild ride through the melodious maze of psalmic musings. Get ready to join me on this audacious endeavor, as we unleash the power of ancient hymns and discover the hidden treasures of the Psalms!

So what for 2024? I resolve to continue to be who I am, so my ability to see connections and patterns in scripture shall continue. My look at the Psalms is inconsistent as I noticed the connections part way through, as is my look at Matthew’s Gospel.

As far as Christian content is concerned, I shall be restricting myself to one per week, unless it is a series during Lent or Advent. This will give room for blogs on other subjects which have been squeezed out, which I hope to include more than just occasionally.

2024 will be more about the real me, I hope. There’s the Paris Olympics and Paralympics on the telly to look forward to too. A new Doctor in Doctor Who too.

Have a good new year and a great year.
