Remembrance Sunday, 9th November 2014 Sunday was a trip to a different Church, Christ the King, Battyeford, The day was Remembrance Sunday, and my father was laying the wreath. Here he is after the service. But what do we remember? Is it the glorious dead? I can see nothing glorious in war, most of the …

Stirring it up
The Bishop of Leeds, Rt Rev Nicholas Baines has been stirring things up. His letter to the Prime minister has been reported on the front page of today's Observer. This is what the Observer said - Observer story. Before you make your minds up about this it would be best to read the full text …

Elton’s at it again
That famous theologian Elton John has done it again. In a classic case of creating God in your own image Elton John said that Jesus would let gay clergy get married. This is not the first theological pronouncement from the singer. In 2010 he said that Jesus was a gay man. Well thought out Mr …
3in1
The preachers' nightmare, Trinity Sunday. How do we explain that God is three persons and one God? It does not make sense. Simply the doctrine says: The Father is fully God, but the Father is not the Son nor the Holy Spirit. Jesus, the Son, is fully God, but the Son is not the Father …
Around Town
Sunday. Huddersfield Town Centre for a walk arranged by the Historical Society. The theme of the day might as well have been scaffolding. The George Hotel was covered in scaffolding. The EA press release mentioned what has been perceived …

Because a few minutes after checking my emails I was having a quick scan of social media. Twitter mostly. That was my mistake of the day. I love twitter, a lot, and the positive aspects of it far outweigh the negatives. But it was a mistake this morning, because within 10 minutes of waking up in a bright and cheery mood that was crushed. Because the Independent had published an article by Oliver Wright, suggesting that rape be called ’non consensual sex’. He suggests a jury would feel more ‘comfortable’ convicting someone of NCS than of rape, which is what NCS is.
Then this evening I caught up with what you have been saying today. In an attempt to clarify comments you…

Off to church and a couple of old cyclists.
A busy weekend at least for the humans. Saturday: After lunch the humans popped down the church, two of their friends, were having a service renewing their wedding vows. Then off to Dewsbury, where there was a free outdoor show (the best sort) The story of the rivalry of two Italian cyclists in an overhead …
