It’s on the streets. It’s a nativity. It’s Streetivity.
Young people from Holy Trinity Anglican and Gledholt Methodist churches, Huddersfield, took the Christmas story to the streets, and they had a donkey. A rather short eared donkey. A p
don key. OK it was a pony playing the donkey.
Through the streets we went, with traffic stopped to let us across. Scenes were introduced and ended by angels shouting SHAZAM! Yes, really. That is not a typo. Eventually Mary, Joe and the rest of the cast, as well as all those following arrived at the Inn (which was a pub) where there was no room.
The play finished with mince pies and mulled wine, there were other refreshments on sale for those who didn’t want their wine mulled. Then singing Christmas carols outside. A good time.
