New Year, New Job

I have a new job. The unemployment period is over, the constant job search is over, for now.
I have a temporary job on a contract that comes to an end on 31st December 2013, so I have a year off from job hunting. So seven and a half months of unemployment are at an end.
Here’s what happened.
Friday 14th December 2012.
I did my usual search around the internet job sites, including two searched by smartphone app; more importantly, several job sites send me their vacancies by email. It was one of these that I applied for that day.
Later that day I had a phone call from the agency, asking me to do an online aptitude test, to be completed by Monday. The test arrived by email towards the evening.
Did online test.
Another phone call. Test is OK. I have an interview on Thursday in Leeds. To be confirmed by email.
Email arrives with a list of things to take to the interview tomorrow.
Church Christmas party in the evening. I arrange with a friend who is a retired headmaster and Non-Stipendary Minister to be a personal reference.
Arrive in Leeds early for the interview, the allowances I made for my notoriously bad sense of direction are not needed.
The interview starts with a group test, followed bt an ajudicated literacy, numeracy and intelligence test. I pass, then on to the interview. I get the job, pending references and getting some documents I haven’t brought back to them tomorrow.
Return to Leeds with missing documents and information. Have to rush back to make a dental appointment.
Monday 24th Christmas Eve
Email from agency, confirming my apointment. More online documents to fill in and email back by 27th.
Call on mobile whilst out cycling confirming the confirmation of the job. I have to turn up with photo proof of ID at 9 am on Monday 7th. Two weeks of back to school learning UK and EU banking regulations before the job starts.
